Home to the Earnhardt Racing dynasty, Kannapolis has also found itself in the throes of a massive economic redevelopment machine. The textile mills that once employed thousands have silenced the sewing machines, transformed the industry to offshore suppliers, and divested of real estate assets. In the throes of all this, local economic planners have invested heavily in the industries of the future, one of which includes automotive technologies which supports the expanding regional racing business. Close to Lowes Motor Speedway, Kannapolis has created a new business park to leverage this new industry.
BOYLE was contracted to perform environmental and geotechnical studies of the Business Park and to provide construction materials testing and quality assurance during construction of several warehouses and retail projects. BOYLE’s aerial photographic documentation of the progress of construction was also used to enhance the quality of the construction monitoring effort, as well as to promote the project to potential investors.
