The northeastern quadrant of Charlotte is home to the (growing) University of North Carolina-Charlotte and is in relatively close proximity to Concord, Lowe’s Motor Speedway, and large business centers associated with the strong banking tradition of the City. There is a strong market for multi-family housing in this sector to accommodate the large pool of both university students and young professional workers.
BOYLE was contracted to provide geotechnical studies of this very challenging build site, as well as assist with special inspections, construction materials testing, and aerial photographic monitoring during construction. The site proved difficult to develop with the presence of shallow rock, unsuitable fill soils, construction of multiple earth retaining walls, and a very aggressive construction schedule.
